Sort of "behind the scenes" - how the MAGIC happens!
The Sunapee Recreation Department and Harbor
Committee have merged our events this year (our 2nd annual Christmas
Celebration)! Last year, our decision to participate in the Chamber's promotion
of "Christmas in Our Towns" was just 30 days in advance of the event date - and
thus too late to combine efforts with the Rec... as their plans had been set
well in advance. This collaboration allows us to unite the aspects of the two
(previously separate) events... continuing tradition ~ while also adding a
little more "magic" each year!
In keeping with the Rec's long-time tradition... we ask that everyone "please"
bring an unwrapped toy or non-perishable item to the celebration. Donation boxes
will be located throughout the Harbor for: Toys for Tots and Sunapee’s
Food Pantry.
The "magical" Christmas Celebration in the Harbor was so well received last year
and it brought everyone great joy to see so many smiling faces enjoying this
community event! We hope this celebration in Sunapee grows into a strong family
tradition for all, with warm and magical memories to be cherished by generations
yet to come.
Volunteers:
We started in 2006 with a small committee of about a dozen - and were joined by
many elves (volunteers) assisting on the day of the event. The committee this
year is almost 3 dozen strong - with a generous amount of elves volunteering
behind the scenes! As the saying goes... "the more, the merrier" - definitely
ringing true of this holiday event - and we appreciatively welcome anyone
wishing to participate.

Sponsorship & Funding:
The Harbor Celebration is made possible by generous sponsors and donations (to
whom we are greatly appreciative!). Funding the event - as we try to grow it a
little bit each year - is obviously a challenge... but thankfully, not a huge
obstacle! Our goal is twofold: to host this event each year as a means to bring
the community together with the "magic" and spirit of the season... and also
provide a venue with activities which can be enjoyed without spending any money
- while offering optional activities for minimal fees.
