A Time
Before New Hampshire: The Land & Native Peoples of the Sunapee Region -
Award-winning author,
ecologist, musician and storyteller Michael Caduto presents 11,000 years
of Alnôbak (Abenaki) culture in New Hampshire through stories, slides
and discussion. Caduto explores the traditional land use stewardship of
the Alnôbak, the impacts on their surroundings and how the land has, in
turn, molded their culture. Free.

Harvest a
Fall Arrangement
- Join floral
designers Pam Ilg and Nell Leach of Two Friends (LLC) Floral Design in
this workshop that concentrates on unusual containers; elements found in
nature; long lasting plant materials; and how to stretch both your
imagination and your pocketbook. Pam and Nell exhibit at the New England
Flower Show and Pam performs demonstrations at Art in Bloom at the
Boston Museum of Fine Arts. They love all things natural, often
collecting their best material in the woods and along roadside
embankments. They invite you to bring your own unusual container if you
so desire. Materials included.

Trail-Walk Series: Introduction to Mushroom Hunting and Identification -
Trail-walk leaders and
amateur mycologists George and Jill Montgomery render a brief
introduction to mushroom identification followed by a trail hike to
collect various species. End the day classifying your collected

Annual Lake Sunapee Chowder Challenge -
Restaurants and
caterers from throughout the Lake Sunapee region present their "secret
recipes" for public sampling ~ competing in the annual "Chowdah
Challenge". Chowder sampling and judging by attendees, music,
children's activities and more! The best of the best is decided when the votes are
tabulated!
NEW this year...
the Challenge is now expanded to include soups, bisque, stews and
chowders.
The event is hosted by the Sunapee PTO in conjunction with the
Lake Sunapee Region Chamber
of Commerce with
proceeds benefiting the Sunapee PTO.
We continually seek more sponsors and welcome new soup and chowder
masters to join this friendly competition!
