The Fantasticks (thru 9/6) - The world’s longest running musical tells the story of two fathers who try to get their children to fall in love by building a wall between their gardens. The theory: children will always do what their parents forbid. This beautiful musical features Try to Remember and Soon It’s Gonna Rain. Tell me a Story... About New Hampshire: Farming and Harvesting - Where did our food come from before we had supermarkets to shop in or tractors to plow our fields? Preschoolers learn the answers to these questions and more with Lauren Cole-Johnson through stories, crafts and a visit to some old stone walls at The Fells. Dress for indoor and outdoor activity. A Time Before New Hampshire: The Land & Native Peoples of the Sunapee Region - Award-winning author, ecologist, musician and storyteller Michael Caduto presents 11,000 years of Alnôbak (Abenaki) culture in New Hampshire through stories, slides and discussion. Caduto explores the traditional land use stewardship of the Alnôbak, the impacts on their surroundings and how the land has, in turn, molded their culture. Free. **More info: www.thefells.org

Harvest a Fall Arrangement - Join floral designers Pam Ilg and Nell Leach of Two Friends (LLC) Floral Design in this workshop that concentrates on unusual containers; elements found in nature; long lasting plant materials; and how to stretch both your imagination and your pocketbook. Pam and Nell exhibit at the New England Flower Show and Pam performs demonstrations at Art in Bloom at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. They love all things natural, often collecting their best material in the woods and along roadside embankments. They invite you to bring your own unusual container if you so desire. Take a Child Outside Week - An international program created to help and encourage children discover the natural world. In cooperation The Fells is offering “Bring a child, receive one free adult admission.” All children free. Trail-Walk Series: Introduction to Mushroom Hunting and Identification - Trail-walk leaders and amateur mycologists George and Jill Montgomery render a brief introduction to mushroom identification followed by a trail hike to collect various species. 8th Annual Lake Sunapee Chowder Challenge - Restaurants and caterers from throughout the Lake Sunapee region present their "secret recipes" for public sampling ~ competing in the annual "Chowdah Challenge". Chowder sampling and judging by attendees, music, children's activities and more! The best of the best is decided when the votes are tabulated! NEW this year... the Challenge is now expanded to include soups, bisque, stews and chowders.
The event is hosted by the Sunapee PTO in conjunction with the
Lake Sunapee Region Chamber of Commerce with proceeds benefiting the Sunapee PTO.
We continually seek more sponsors and welcome new soup and chowder masters to join this friendly competition!

19th Harvest Moon Festival - The fall is harvest time and Harvest Moon attendees are sure to reap a rich bounty of Native-style food, crafts and skills. Corn grinding, fire building, shelter construction and other traditional autumn activities are demonstrated and offered through hands-on instruction. Harvest Moon activities help rekindle the connections between people and the changing seasons of the land. **More info: www.indianmuseum.org

Trail-Walk Series: Stone Walls of The Fells - Stone walls meander through the woods, follow our roads and form boundaries. They are beautiful, practical and take many forms and purposes. Join Tom Cooper as he tours stone walls at The Fells and relates how various walls have been constructed and why and how a pile of rocks becomes a stone wall. **More info: www.thefells.org
