Old
Garden Renovation Project -
2009 marks the
centennial of The Fells first garden designed by Clarence Hay. Known as
the Old Garden, this unique space, presenting an integrated
juxtaposition of a cultivated garden and the indigenous New Hampshire
landscape, has changed character over the years from the original
sun-drenched perennial-filled formal axial layout to the cool and
semi-shaded area we observe today. Join Fells Landscape Director, Jeff
Good, for a Powerpoint presentation and tour through the Old Garden as
he discusses its ongoing renovation and master plan to recreate the
clean north-south and east-west axes first created in 1909.
