WINTER Events Calendar 2008-2009
As the brilliant autumn
foliage fades ~ and a blanket of snow covers the Harbor ~ while the
sparkling waters become frozen and still ~ the Harbor is transformed into
a Winter Wonderland... playing host to many activities including: Ice
Skating - Sledding - Snowmobiling - Ice Fishing - Cross Country Skiing -
and a few special Events... All this in the midst of a charming village
setting with quaint shops and cottage lodging!
Sunapee Recreation is again this year hosting a great way to
start Thanksgiving day with your family. This 5K (3 mile) run/walk
will start at 9:00am (rain or shine) in Sunapee Harbor... head up
Burkehaven hill... around Lake Ave... and finish at the Ben Mere
Gazebo.
Register before Nov 14th and get an official Turkey Trot
long sleeve shirt.
Race-day registration available from 7:00-8:00am.
There will be an awards ceremony after the race, and there will be
an award for the runner/walker with the best costume!
1st
Annual Lake Sunapee Chicken Run - 1K run/walk
NEW
THIS YEAR - a "fun run" for kids! The Chicken Run will start at
8:15am, beginning at crosswalk in front of Wildgoose Store and the
course will follow Lake Avenue to entrance of Indian Cave Condos -
then turn back, with the Finish Line back at starting crosswalk.
Last year, 275 walkers/runners began a wonderful family tradition on
Thanksgiving morning with Turkey Trot participation in the Harbor -
and our goal for this year is 400 runners or walkers.
Come join the fun... run - walk - or show your support by cheering
on all the turkey trotters along the course... and you can pre-burn
those Thanksgiving calories!
